Wedding Bliss

My sister Anna married Christopher Slaydon on Friday, Oct. 28th. What a sweet wedding at a beautiful venue - Lake Mackintosh Marina in Burlington. Welcome to the family Chris! Strap in...never a dull moment with the Bardowell's...but I'm sure you realize that already. Congratulations Anna and Chris! Love you. The Eagle Has Landed!

Preacher Keller is one of our favorites! He was Terry's preacher growing up and he has so many fond memories of him. He turned 94 a month ago and he loves eagles. I promised him I would make him an eagle cake and so...here it is. My thumb was sore the next day from cutting out all of the feathers but sooo worth it! Next year he wants me to make a wolf! A Horse of Course!

I certainly like this horse...one I don't have to clean up after! Ava turned 7 and requested a horse with a mane. He grew on me through the process of making him. You know what they say...horses love sugar! Happy Birthday Ava.

LilaKate Turns Two!

It's hard to believe that LilaKate is two already! I feel like she was just born yesterday...my how time flies. Her parents, Gina and Jimmy planned a Minnie and Mickey Mouse party for her at the North Ridge Country Club. G ordered a Minnie Mouse cake and cupcakes to match. Vanilla/Vanilla...my new fav recipe. Happy Birthday little LilaKate!

Baby Cosima Shower

Winnie the Pooh was the theme for my sister-in-law's baby shower. Vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream decorated in typical "Pooh" fashion...with honey pots and bees! My goddaughter Cosima Grace was born on March 16, 2011. She is so precious! My baby...Bailey (who is now 17)adores her. Oh...I forgot...was this description about a cake?

Crepe Myrtle Festival

This cake was an original design for the Crepe Myrtle Festival held at the Convention Center in downtown Raleigh. It was their 30th anniversary! I made their "helping hands" logo out of fondant and placed on top of the cake. Terry helped me to deliver it and I kept praying in the car that it would not fall before we made it there. I think someone should make a "cake delivery in progress" sign to hang in the back window of cars. Everything here was so beautiful! The flowers for the festival were designed by Bill Donovan and they were ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! If you ever need flowers for an event...call me for his number.
